Guardian Program

What would happen to your companion animals if you were no longer here? Have you made plans for your furry family members? Many people do not have a friend or relative to appoint as guardian for their pet. They worry about what will happen when they pass away. With ARF’s Guardian Program, people can have peace of mind that their beloved companion animals will be well cared for when the need arises.

When a guardian passes away, dogs and cats enrolled in the Guardian Program will be taken in to the ARF Adoption Program. They will receive excellent care as staff works to place them in the best possible home.

Enroll Your Pet in the
ARF Guardian Program. . .
it’s easy!

Step 1: Specify in your will or trust documents that your pet is to be entrusted to ARF at your death: "At the time of my death, I give my pet(s) to the Guardian Program for placement in a loving home."

Step 2: Designate a friend, relative or the executor of your estate to act as interim caretaker and to bring your companion animal to ARF’s caring staff.

Step 3: Complete the Guardian Program Pet Biography, providing information about your pet's food preferences, likes and dislikes, habits and special needs. To obtain a copy of the Pet Biography form, visit our website at www.arf.net.

Step 4: Send a copy of your Pet Biography form to ARF and keep a copy with your will. ARF recommends you update the form every six months.

Step 5: Make annual donations to ARF. Any gift, large or small, will be used to save animals’ lives.

This is a service for people who specify in their will or trust documents that their pet companions are to be entrusted to ARF at the time of their death, and who make annual donations to ARF (of any amount). The program is available for dogs and cats, with a limit of two (2) pets per person.

ARF is an animal welfare organization supported solely by the generosity of its contributors. Your annual tax deductible gifts to the Guardian Program will help ARF provide orphaned cats and dogs with loving accommodations until a permanent home can be found.
