Camp ARF "A"
Grades 1-3
Fashioned after ARF's popular All Stars® program this camp utilizes a unique "foster care" model with plush toy animals to teach children about responsible pet ownership. By tending to their "foster pet" over the course of a week the children learn to understand and provide for a pet's needs. Additional topics include dog safety, cat and dog behavior, the importance of spay/neuter and positive training reinforcements. The camp also offers animal-themed games, "critter crafts" and visits by ARF's therapy dogs and cats. A favorite camp activity is Friday's pet-less pet show where campers put their knowledge of positive reinforcement to use while "training" each other on ARF's dog agility course. Always a popular event for children and adults alike, parents are welcome to attend and cheer on their children as they race through the obstacle course. This pet show makes for wonderful photo opportunities for family albums and holiday cards!
