How do I get started?

ARF offers a variety of ways you can help animals and people. The work ARF accomplishes every year would not be possible without the generous contributions of its volunteers. By joining a team of dedicated volunteers, you will be helping ARF in its mission to provide the resources and support necessary to build lifelong relationships between people and pets.

Requirements

Commitment
ARF asks for a six month commitment of at least eight hours a month.

Age Requirement
Volunteer positions are for those aged 18 and older. Teens and Pre-Teens may be interested in the ARF All Stars® program intended for junior high and high school students.

Volunteer Orientation
If you are ready to find out more, you must attend a volunteer orientation meeting. You'll learn about ARF's history, mission and goals as well as current volunteer opportunities in the hour and a half meeting. An optional tour of the ARF facility is offered after each meeting.

ARF offers two new volunteer orientations a month for potential volunteers at the shelter located at 2890 Mitchell Drive, Walnut Creek (corner of Oak Grove Road and Mitchell Drive). Please see the ARF calendar for upcoming orientation dates.

If you are ready to attend an orientation, please sign up online or call (925) 256-1273. If you have any questions please email gmcduff@arf.net.
