ARF always has dogs and cats who need a loving foster home for a while before they will be ready to be adopted into their forever homes.
In addition to the animals listed below we often need fosters for young puppies and kittens. Because they are young, with immature immune systems, they need to go right to a foster home and not stay in the public shelter. If you are interested in being on our special puppy or kitten foster list please let us know.
Salty is a 3-year-old orange mackerel tabby cat. He is a gentle and mellow fellow who would love nothing better than to sit in your lap for pets and brushing. Salty has had a hard life so far, he is currently suffering from an upper respiratory infection and is also recovering from surgery to amputate his leg which was injured so badly prior to coming to ARF that it could not be saved. Although he has no symptoms at the moment, Salty has tested positive for FIV and therefore he can only go to homes with no other cats or other cats who are also FIV positive.
Gumbo is a 7-month-old Doxie mix who weighs about 14 pounds. He is sweet and snuggly but undersocialized and would benefit from extra attention and socialization. Gumbo has a cough and needs fostering for a week or two to recover.
Water Lily is a 14-week-old sealpoint snowshoe kitten. She is having a hard time recovering from an upper respiratory infection in the shelter environment and would appreciate a foster home for a few weeks until she feels better. She is contagious so would need to be kept separate from your resident cats.
Split Pea is a 1-year-old Golden Retriever / Saint Bernard mix who weighs about 90 pounds. She is very snuggly, gentle, and a bit needy. She is easygoing and loves everyone she meets. Crate training is important to help her feel secure. Split Pea is coughing and has a runny nose and needs fostering for a few weeks to recover.
Scoops is an 18-week-old shepherd mix puppy who weighs 18 pounds. She is coughing and has a runny nose and needs fostering for a few weeks to recover.
Chicken Noodle is a 2-year-old border collie, beagle mix who weighs about 50 pounds. She is currently healthy and is expecting puppies any day! We think she is going to have four puppies. We need to get her out of the shelter and into a foster home as soon as possible. This is a longer term foster situation as you would be caring for her until she weans her puppies and then caring for the puppies until they are old enough to be spayed or neutered. So this could be anywhere from two to three months.
Please contact Kris at kpartello@arf.net or (925) 296-3104, if you are able to help. They will thank you with their unconditional love!
