Kittens are cute and puppies are precious, but how do you tell if one is right for you? Take the following test to determine your kitten or puppy compatibility.

1. Do you have a boundless supply of time, energy and patience?
2. Are you prepared to work with your new young charge and understand their occasional mishap with a shoe, carpet, litter box or new piece of furniture?
3. At the end of the workday, do you look forward to going for a long walk or taking a long nap?
4. When you see a scratch on a piece of furniture do you consider it ruined?
5. Are you primed to care for your new companion for upwards of 20 years?
6. Do you have very young children, or do you plan to have children while your pet is still a kitten or pup?
7. Are you aware that any cute little kitten or puppy will look like an adult within 6-12 months?

The decision of whether to get a youngster or an adult should not be made lightly. Take the time to talk to an ARF adoption counselor who will assist you in choosing the right pet.
